Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string, to help with spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to check whether you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Newsletter and Email Subscriptions

If you subscribe to our newsletter or job-alert updates, we collect your email address for the purpose of sending you articles, updates, and relevant job postings. We do not sell, rent, or share your email address with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link included in every email we send, or by contacting us directly at thakurpiyushramesh@gmail.com.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine whether your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Analytics and Advertising

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our website (e.g. pages visited, time spent, general location, device/browser type). This helps us improve our content and site performance. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect this information. You can learn more about how Google handles this data here: https://policies.google.com/privacy.

We also use Google AdSense (and/or similar third-party advertising services) to display ads on our website. These services may use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to collect information about your visits to this and other websites in order to provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you.

  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings: https://adssettings.google.com/.
  • You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page: http://www.networkadvertising.org/managing/opt_out.asp.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content — including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

We may share data with third-party service providers who help us operate the website, including spam detection services, hosting providers, analytics providers (Google Analytics), and advertising partners (Google AdSense), solely for the purposes described in this policy. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we retain your email address until you unsubscribe or request deletion.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

Depending on your location, you may have rights under laws such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (for visitors in the European Economic Area) or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) (for California residents), including the right to:

  • Request access to the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate personal data
  • Request deletion (“erasure”) of your personal data
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format
  • Object to or restrict certain processing of your data
  • Withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent, e.g. newsletter subscriptions)
  • (California residents) Request disclosure of data collected/sold and opt out of the sale of personal information — note that Mechstera does not sell personal data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

To make a data request, please contact us at thakurpiyushramesh@gmail.com.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Data collected via Google Analytics and Google AdSense may be processed and stored on servers located outside your country of residence, in accordance with Google’s own privacy and data protection practices.
